In these days of isolation, I am taking the time to look back and over the past few years at Le Touron and the life around us at Table de Touron.
Five years ago this May, the Hand to Mouth initiative began. Bored of varnishing and faking culinary photography, together with a food stylist and friend Laurence Mouton we decided to take pictures of real food eaten by real people. Using the hands of our village of Saint Antonin Noble Val we were able to make up recipe cards of some our many favourite recipes that Flora and I share with our Table de Touron guests each year.
Over these years we have created, shared, learnt, laughed and spent time with so many of the wonderful characters that inhabit our village. Artists, farmers, teachers and shopkeepers... the list is endless of talents and professions in our very special medieval riverside market town.
So i'd like to take this opportunity of isolation to share with you over the next few weeks some of the stories of these talented people, our village and life here and the recipes we've collected here on our website and on our Instagram platforms under @tabledetouron and a newly dedicated page @hand.to.mouth.initiative .
